Darrell
Hello!
Hello. My name is Darrell and I am a Primary School teacher in Nottinghamshire, England and have over 40 years experience, teaching children from the ages of 3-16, as well as adults. I have taught learners at all levels, many for whom English is their second language, including those who have only just arrived in the country. I use my expertise and experience to meet a wide range of needs, including conversational English (my students really appreciate this, as I speak slowly and clearly with a classic British accent), vocabulary and grammar as well as preparing students for more formal examinations including IELTS and particularly the Trinity GESE tests levels 1-8.
My degree subject was in Music, so I play various instruments including piano, trombone, trumpet and guitar. I am also a swimming teacher and the proud father of 2 Paralympic Gold Medallists. For many years, my two sons represented their country in the British Paralympic Swim team. This meant that my wife and I have had the pleasure of travelling around the world to support them, including watching them win gold medals in the Paralympics in Beijing (2008), London (2012) and Rio de Janeiro (2016). These international experiences have enabled me to see first-hand how essential mastery of the English language is across the world.

I always aim to make my classes fun and interactive, whilst ensuring that learners understand the objectives of the lesson and have a clear view of the progress that they are making. A student’s welfare is of the utmost importance to me. I am patient and focused and adapt my teaching to the needs and styles of the student in order to help them achieve their goals.
