Charlotte
Hello!
Hi I'm Charlotte and I love tutoring English on Cambly. I am a Psychology graduate with over 12 years of experience in training roles. As a professional psychologist, I helped clients develop enhanced thinking and social skills and I trained professionals in psychological knowledge and cognitive behaviour therapy. At the heart of my work is understanding where you are now as an individual by keen active listening. Knowing where you want to go with your learning I will generate lots of ideas to make the most of your time. I have a great repertoire of learning tools and conversation topics to expand your vocabulary. My flexible and person-centred approach is what you are getting if you work with me. I have worked in many different professions: in business, government and charitable sectors and with several years in academic institutions. I understand many of the contexts in which you might wish to use your English language skills. My tutoring methods include role playing for the benefit of continuing your professional development. I speak conversational French and I am still learning so I can offer an insight into how to learn a language. I know that learning a new language is not just a matter of new words or grammar but how to use it. Context and culture are vital components and I would love to share these with you. We can start simply for those just beginning to explore English. I know what it is like to worry about making mistakes and how being misunderstood feels. I will help to build your confidence so you can "have a go" in a safe space. For those with specific professional goals, I will challenge you to express more complex ideas and practice new scenarios. We can discuss many topics from academic research to team leadership. Above all, my ways of working are motivational, whilst giving you real and constructive feedback and finding opportunities to practice and apply your knowledge. Well done for making a real breakthrough in your learning by coming to Cambly. I hope to see you.
I am an ex-city dweller who moved to rural France in recent years. I love both lifestyles and am currently living on a smallholding with my husband, too many chickens, a few stupid turkeys, a beautiful dog and a sarcastic cat. I enjoy many rural activities, self-sufficient living, animals, nutrition and nature. My hobbies include yoga and thai chi, walking my dog, playing the violin and reading novels. I also love to turn my garden produce into delicious meals. I have travelled to the U.S.A, Mexico, Thailand, Australia and India. In cities I often lived in a multicultural environment by choice. I have a strong appreciation for diversity and advocate for equality. I would love to hear about your culture and background should we get the chance to meet.

Teaching Style
I really enjoy having one to one conversations with my students. I encourage students to tell me about their lives and correct any mistakes that they make. I like to hear what has and hasn't worked in their learning so far and hear what goals they have. Knowing someone's goals means that I can help them create a plan and I will introduce different tools to help them memorise and learn effectively. For instance, role playing important life events such as being interviewed for a job or appartment. We may also discuss topics of interest. I can research these and bring articles to sessions to inspire learning through conversation. Reviewing progress and recapping are also tools which I regularly use in my sessions. I have helped my neighbours learn English by finding online resources which help me create my own exercises. I also love to be creative and have many topics to inspire interesting discussions and even some fun games!
