Brett
Hello!
* Please feel free to contact me to arrange lessons outside of my current schedule, thank you!* Hi, my name is Brett and I am from the UK but was born in Zimbabwe. As a former teacher, I thoroughly enjoy speaking to people interested in learning new languages and conversational skills. I understand the anxiety that may arise when learning or perfecting a new language and I am fully committed in providing a safe, calm space to help students achieve their goals and boost their confidence in spoken language. I recently set up and ran a wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary in Uganda where I worked with many school groups who came to visit and learn about different wildlife species. As well as working as a qualified teacher in the UK, I have managed a safari company and even worked as a lifeguard so I am sure my students and I will find our lessons both informative and intriguing.
As well as a degree in Zoology, I also gained a degree in teaching in the UK and taught science for several years at secondary school before transitioning to primary school education. I especially enjoy teaching both spoken and written English and found the success of my students thoroughly rewarding. I am a keen sportsman, having played both rugby and waterpolo and now coach the local rugby side. My other hobbies include rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife, reading and gardening. In 2017, I moved to Uganda and worked in rural education centers, teaching environmental conservation as well as helping improve students' English skills. I most recently set up a wildlife sanctuary with the aim of rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned and injured wildlife so they can be responsibly returned to the wild.

I aim to make all students feel comfortable when we meet and tailor my lessons to individuals' ability and interests. I like to base lessons around students' interests and their personal goals. I patiently listen before then offering advice or compliments and will resource and plan subsequent lessons tailored to our first conversation.
