Hello, my name is Carolyn and I am really glad you are here! I am from Detroit, Michigan in the United States, but I currently live in beautiful Merida, Mexico. I speak a little Spanish, I have a lot more to learn. Trust me, I understand how hard it is to learn a new language. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English and Creative Writing. I am TEFL and TESOL certified. I am a mom. I love animals. I like to sing. I am passionate about writing. I am a movie buff and I watch more TV than I should. I am a proud mom of my two adult sons. I have a dog named Penny and two turtles, Waldo and Mac. I love all kinds of animals. I like to do crafts, like crochet, knitting and yarn dyeing. I love to travel and learn about new places and different cultures. I like music and singing. I like to cook and bake too. One of the great things about living in Mexico is that I can swim and go to the beach all year round! I also like learning about the culture here and I'd love to learn about your culture and traditions.

I like to get to know my students. I'll talk with you and learn about your needs and goals, then I can adjust our class time to meet those needs. If you need help with job interview preparation, I have experience helping my students with that. If you want to improve your business English skills, I worked in Corporate America for more than 25 years, I can certainly help you there. I am a mom, so when I talk to other parents, compare experiences and stories about our kids, that's a great way to practice English. I love cooking and I enjoy it when my students share the recipes of their country. I'm flexible, so we can talk about whatever you find interesting, as long as it gets you communicating. "In a world where you can be anything, be KIND" is one of my favorite sayings. I value kindness. My classes are a judgement free zone. You can feel safe to make mistakes, over and over, and never feel judged.
