Hello!
Hello, folks. My name is Kelly. I am from New Haven, CT. I am currently living in Mexico City. CDMX has been my home for the past 4 years, and I would not change it for the world. I REALLY enjoy talking to people. I believe I have what it takes to breakthrough any shyness or hesitations that you might have. I was a bartender for 15 years of my life, so talking and listening and understanding what it is you need or might need is a passion of mine. I have been a part of the art and theater community since the age of 4. My very first art class was puppet making and my very first big production was "The Miracle Worker". I stayed with acting all the way through high school and it was my major in college at The Ohio State University. While in college, I took a few years to focus on teaching children's theater. (I also did this while in high school). I just adore working with kids, but not only that, I enjoy teaching. I take advantage of any chance that I can to give my personal experience in hopes that it helps you, and at the same time remembering to listen to your personal life experiences. Thats so important to me, because I know that I can ALSO learn something from new and from you.
When I was 5 and in the 1st grade, we all made our own personal book with our own personal theme. And my theme was how "I want to travel the world (before I die)". My grandparents still have this book, and they pull it out on occasion to bring smiles to our faces and to remind me that I have lived up to that goal, and how I'm still living up to it. I have been traveling since the age of 4 (with my parents) and I still continue to do so (in my adulthood). I have lived in France, Montreal and now Mexico City. Some of my favorite cities in the world are Paris, Lisbon,Washington D.C. and Rio. I have not made it to all seven continents yet, but I still the desire and some time. One of my BIGGEST and FAVORITE hobbies is making flower arrangements. Working with flowers is the best for me. They put me in a place, in a world of my own with its own music. Nothing can bother me when I have flowers in my hand. Riding my bike is something that I'm also very passionate about. I could just ride and ride for hours. And, a good book is always something I like to dive into, because reading is fundamental.

I like to start each day with a friendly reminder to find as many opportunities in the day for mass amounts of smiles and laughter. Because why not? I want the vibes of my classes to always feel like a safe spot for you to be who you are without any hesitations. And most importantly, I want you to feel assured that with coming to my classroom, you will never feel intimated or that you're full of mistakes. Learning a new language is easy, when you put in the work (like most things in life). And at times the work is going to push your limits, and in pushing your limits you might feel self doubt or annoyed, and when that happens, your immediate response might be to start giving half the effort or no effort at all. Instead of doing that, you are going to embrace that moment for yourself with kindness and then remember that I am also going to embrace those same moments with you! Because one, I fully support and applaud you for teaching your brain new tricks. And two, I myself still face challenges every day in learning a new language. And that's expected. In teaching, I feel connecting with personal experience is typically a safe way to start. And in my experience with learning a new language, what has been the best fit for me in helping me feel comfortable/wanting to learn more, and retaining what I learn is by talking about the things that I already know and talking about them until I'm blue in the face. Or using the vocabulary that I already know. Many times I have psyched myself out by trying or thinking that I need to know ALL the grammar or ALL the vocabulary, but that's not the case. Lets stick to and practice what you know, take it step by step and I assure you, that when you are comfortable with and have a firm grip and understanding on the curriculum that you have set for yourself in a certain time frame, your brain and heart will just open up to learning and absorbing everything next that there is to know. And then what felt like a struggle or struggles from the past have now been shifted into easy and happy thoughts, like........Rainbows and Butterflies.
