ADVISORY- I DO NOT TEACH BEGINNERS, only Intermediate and Advanced and I do NOT teach students with their camera 0FF. If you are unable to abide by that, please find another tutor. Aloha kākou, I grew up in Hawaii where I bodysurfed daily after school, paddled a Hawaiian 6 man outrigger canoe for my club in statewide canoe regattas and loved to scuba dive. I graduated from the University of Hawai’i with a BS degree and have continued in Hawaiian Studies for a long time. I am currently living in magical México and am teaching English in some local programs.
I’ve always been interested in not only all things Hawai’i but Polynesia in general. History, hula, olelo, & olis. Tahiti is my favorite place followed by Aotearoa, now called New Zealand. The Māori & Tahitian languages are similar to Hawaiian which makes sense as the great migrations began out of Tahiti. I can speak basic Hawaiian. My wife & I love to travel and meet people from different cultures. I’m happiest in the ocean or gardening as I love growing exotics. I have also been a antique car collector. I owned 3 furniture stores in Las Vegas in the early '90s, 3 video arcades in Hawai'i in the '80s and a newspaper called 'South of the Border' that served upper Baja California, mainly Tijuana, Rosarito Beach and Ensenada, where I had a beach house for 14 years. When I was in international marketing, I had business in over 20 countries and spent a handful of months living in Tokyo expanding my business. For sports, I have been involved with Golf, scuba diving, ocean swimming, body surfing, hiking, tennis and paddling outrigger canoes. For the last 20 some years, I have also focused on my spiritual growth. Should you choose to join me, please know I prefer classes no longer than 30 minutes and I DON'T TEACH BEGINNERS , only intermediate and advanced. Learning should be fun therefore I want to help put you at ease and not feel pressured. Patience, kindness and having FUN is key! There are structured lessons to choose from or we can practice conversation or read interesting news stories from around the world; you can choose what you want. And if you want to learn some commonly used slang expressions, we can do that. Ultimately, this is all about what and how you want to learn.
