Hello!
Hi -I am Paul and I’m an English tutor living between Türkiye, and London. Before coming to Cambly I taught and mentored in a busy London hospital pharmacy for over twenty years as a senior Pharmacy manager. I have now been successfully teaching all areas of English language on Cambly since 2022. I specialise in conversational skills, interview preparation, reading guidance, presentation skills, and medical, academic, business and managerial English. I have a strong interest in writing and literature, which gives me the skills to help improve my students vocabulary, grammar and reading/listening skills. I also help prepare for IELT's and any other English language tests. I’ve travelled extensively across the world, enjoying all different cultures and learning from the people I meet and befriend around the globe. I enjoy learning from my students as they learn from me in a relaxed and friendly teaching manner. I’m happy with casual conversation on any topic or more targeted learning exercises.
I combine a passion for travel with a lifelong interest in wildlife, literature, different cultures, food, art and music. Through meeting locals I've been able to experience amazing sights and sounds in the countries I've visited. I've travelled through Asia, the Middle East, Central America, Canada, Europe, Africa and visited New Zealand. As well as being a nature lover I’m fascinated by city life and enjoy exploring them through music, socialising, galleries, restaurants and getting myself lost at the first opportunity. I also am a keen reader of many genres of books and this feeds my love of words and language. A love of reading inspires my own writing, which I express through web and blog writing and also to inform others about various topics I’m interested in including the two places I live- Türkiye and London. I am currently learning Turkish which helps me understand language teaching from the students side.

Teaching Style
My teaching style is flexible according to the students preference, providing lessons which vary between conversational, formal lesson plans and article reading and discussion. Where helpful I refer to visual and online aids and tailor the lesson towards the students interests, profession and ambitions so they can continue to practice in their day-to-day lives. I work with beginners, intermediate and advanced English language students following a patient and encouraging approach. In addition to having many regular students returning weekly I am happy to welcome back students who use multiple tutors. As well as general language teaching I have the experience to tutor in medical, business, academic and general workplace terminology. I also help students prepare for job and academic interviews practicing commonly asked questions, and helping with pre-interview anxiety. I enjoy the camaraderie and friendship of teaching and learning and approach each lesson with a smile and hopefully some laughter. Learning a language can be difficult at times but adapting to the students style brings encouraging results.
