Hello!

Hi there! NOTE: MINIMUM LEVEL FOR STUDENTS SHOULD BE B2. My name is Hina and I am really excited to be your TESOL & TEFL Certified English tutor to help you reach your goal of improving your English skills. I specialize in: Job interview prep, IELTS GENERAL ONLY, TOEIC, CELPIP practice, Business English, Business English Communications, Academic English, Conversational English, reading in-depth articles with help from me ;-) and much more! I am a journalist and editor with national and international experience and have interviewed celebrities, business execs and other notable personalities who all had a story to tell! And that's why I am here! I would love to hear your story! Here's a little bit about me: I love movies, streaming dramas, music, photography and art. There is something magical about the creative world. I am a very curious person and love to get to know more about the world and people around me. That means diving into different cultures, perspectives, food and more. I love to travel and find that this is such a great way to continue to explore the world beyond my doorstep and through the screen! My lessons range from relaxed (think of us having coffee) to structured, depending on the specific need of the student. Everyone learns differently and I appreciate that the needs of each person may be vastly different from the next. That's why during our first introduction session I focus on getting to know you and garner a deeper understanding of your English level and goals that you have in mind. The majority of my adult clients come from various backgrounds and it's fascinating to discover their likes, lives and hobbies. I also want to be sure that our sessions are highly productive, engaging and fun as I appreciate that everyone is doing this apart from their daily busy lives. So here I am. Let's get started shall we?

Here are some kind reviews from my students ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Hina is one of the best Cambly tutors I’ve ever met :). She is great at making the conversation flow. Every time we have class she always makes sure to start with friendly small talk. I like that she always takes the time to ask me about my day and it feels like chatting with a friend. I end up knowing how to react and continue the flow of daily conversations. She is the perfect leader to guide you on your enigmatic English learning journey." - Ken, Taiwan ==================================================================================== "Thank you hina, you really so nice and patient."- Poppy, China ====================================================================================== "She is a fun and understanding teacher. for me she is the only teacher on Cambly that I have had a fun time with. thank you Hina" - Nihal, Turkiye ====================================================================================== I love movies, music, concerts and binge-watching comedy, documentaries, crime dramas, action series and movies. I enjoy watching sports and follow my fave Canadian Toronto Raptors NBA Basketball team. I love world championships including the UEFA & FIFA World Cup, American Superbowl, Wimbledon, US Open and the Olympics. Traveling is also my true passion. I've had tea with a monk in Vietnam. Sat under a blanket of stars in the Sahara Desert. Ate the most incredible food in Cambodia. Filmed a fashion documentary in Indonesia (Did I tell you I love international fashion?). I can still can taste the incredible angel hair pasta I had in Venice and the smell of freshly baked bread on the streets of Vienna. And that's just a few countries I have visited. I can't wait to keep exploring more countries with you all!

Teaching Style

It's all about having fun and educational and stress-free conversations. 1. Reading various reading materials, news articles from NYT, BBC, Engoo.com (and more), depending on the reading level and interest. I encourage everyone to not be shy and let me guide you through these articles. It's not as scary as it may seem. Other clients have brought on their own books that they are reading to class. From career development books, to fantasy novels to the always popular Harry Potter series, there are many different ways to flex your reading skills. 2. Specific Cambly courses tailored to your specific goals. Either go through an entire course lesson by lesson or if you like we can jump around depending on what you have in mind. 3. Writing assignments. For those interested in improving their writing skills at home assignments (they are short so don't worry) are always available. 4. Free flow conversations. If you want to have a class just to talk, no problem! What I would ask is that you bring the topic to class. ;-) There are so many ways we can learn! The main point is to have fun and to always have a productive goal-oriented class. ;-)
