Hello!
Hello, I am an English and Social Studies teacher and a former tap dance teacher and I love to help people. I have had the wonderful opportunity to travel for the past 3 years and to volunteer as an English teacher in Guatemala, Tanzania and Spain. I really loved helping both children and adults improve their English, and was told I ‘had a knack’ for making people feel comfortable - so I decided to become an online English tutor. I have been tutoring for over 2 years now and absolutely love connecting with new students from around the world. I have 3 adult children that I love to spend time with. I also love animals and frequently house and pet sit as a unique way to travel and explore. And my 3 new favourite passions are hiking, running and learning Spanish…me gusta aprender espanol 😊
A little more about me…I consider myself to be a learner as well as a teacher. I love taking online courses and I love travelling as a way to learn about history and cultures. I recently have been learning Spanish and also am studying to scuba dive. I have also completed 2 half marathons since turning 50 and 2 years ago I did a part of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. It is never too late to learn new things! I am currently living in Hong Kong, teaching English at a children's learning center. It has been a wonderful experience and I have loved exploring a new country and culture.

I believe that one of the most important aspects in learning a language is simple conversation in a helpful and judgement free zone. I think it is important to find a balance between improving grammar and correcting pronunciation but at the same time, allowing the learner to be able to express themselves freely without constant interruptions and to use the new language in informal ways. I also strongly believe in tailoring my lessons and teaching methods to suit each learners’ needs and actual goals. An older adult wanting to learn English to travel has different needs than a young student wanting to attend university in an English speaking country - I believe in adjusting my teaching style to suit the learners’ goals.
