Stephan
Hello!
I have a curiosity that won’t stop. I enjoy meeting people from other cultures and talking about the history of everyone’s countries, including the arts, architecture, and of course, the food.
I have been curious about the world from a very early age and have been to 23 different countries. I am fascinated by words and accents. I think the way people speak is quite interesting. I like to work with my hands as a gardener, a woodworker, and as a potter. I also like to draw and take photographs. I have a creative spirit that I keep at bay through my various projects. Right now I am working on a YouTube project: “What does Japan Mean to Me?” which I hope to have completed by September of 2023.

Teaching Style
I like to teach English through describing the day to day activities we all must perform. It is imperative that the student perform all four aspects of language transmission: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The language used for instruction needs to be relevant to the learner- this helps with retention and will instill the language in a way that will be remembered. We all have to wake up in the morning, make coffee and brush our teeth. I teach using these basic activities through videos that I make of me doing them while I narrate the action. A trip through the supermarket or hardware store presents many opportunities for learning. As I like to cook, (and everyone needs to eat) one of my favorite methods for English instruction is through teaching recipes and cooking techniques illustrated in videos I make. When I can no longer challenge my student with transcribing videos, I like to teach through reading books together. I have my students read to me while I take notes on their diction and pronunciation.
