Kris
Hello!
Hi, my name is Kris. I am a tutor and native English speaker from the United States. I am originally from Wyoming, and I have recently moved back home after living in Virginia for the past decade. I have always been passionate about learning, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to tutor people in a variety of subjects. I also believe there's no more useful tool you can add to your personal library than a language! I have a very flexible, patient approach to teaching, and I'd be honored to help you with your language goals, so I hope to hear from you soon!
I was raised in a small western town at the base of the Rocky Mountains, and I still gravitate toward the mountains when I need a break. I love the sound of rain, playing my guitar with friends, and that first cup of steaming hot coffee in the morning. I read and research voraciously and planned to travel when my kids were grown. As I still haven't done a great deal of that, I enjoy talking with people of different cultures and traditions so that I may travel vicariously through them! I've done a lot of tutoring or training throughout my life, both back in college and after that training adults in the work place. Over the past couple years, I've even helped home school my grandchildren. [I will add here that while I love kids, and I'm sure I would love yours too, I do not feel prepared to teach very young students.] I believe that learning should always be enjoyable even when it's challenging, and I enjoy helping others learn. This has led me to seek additional teaching opportunities which is how I found my way to Cambly!

Teaching Style
My approach is patient and flexible as I work to cater my style to the individual I'm helping. During the first session, I will ask about your goals and experiences, and we'll choose a course of action together. I'll also pull in additional resources whenever I can so you have information and options from multiple sources. We'll move forward as quickly or slowly as you are comfortable with, and periodically, I'll check to make sure we're still on the path you were expecting, and we’ll make adjustments as needed. As for my personality, I am easy-going. I like to include humor in my lessons (and my life) whenever I can. I think that mistakes are simply learning tools, and that stress and frustration generally hinder learning, so one of my main roles is to support you and keep the sessions energetic, light-hearted, and relatable.
