Hello!

Hello! My name is Jacob. I have over 10 years of experience teaching English as a foreign language. I enjoy watching students grow and learning how to perfect and utilize the English language. Among many things I enjoy traveling, cooking, nature, and drinking coffee and relaxing. Nice to meet you! Let's learn the English language together!

I have lived in Japan for about 10 years, all of which I have spent teaching English as a foreign language to kids and adults of all ages. I have ample experience teaching English learners and understand the hardships of each student. I love to travel both within Japan and outside of Japan, experience different cultures, cook, and enjoy a nice coffee at a cafe. While speaking in English, let's talk about the things we like and our experiences!

Specialties

Teaching Style

My teaching style encourages students to think critically. Not only memorizing vocabulary and grammar, but also thinking quickly during conversations and speeches. I hope for students to think about the "what" but also the "why" and "how". After perfecting these concepts, English learners will also have a better grasp of the English language, especially during conversation with native speakers. The other aspect of my teaching style is to enjoy mistakes. Mistakes will happen often, and that's ok! Actually, I love mistakes! Making mistakes is one of the best methods to master any language! And finally, understanding my student's strengths and weaknesses and considering them when making lesson plans.
