Hello, My name is Damion and I am a language enthusiast just like you! I know what it's like to pursue a new language, a new skillset or even a new passion without any clear direction on how to get to the other side. Fortunately for you, I have figured out the key to gaining traction and focus towards accomplishing any goal that you would like to accomplish. Do you have a language goal that you would like to conquer?
As you probably have already noticed in my profile, I am also conversationally-fluent in Russian. Would you like to know how I reached this level of proficiency in 5 years? Well, I will tell you that I didn't do it with thousands of grammar charts and long-winded stories written in 1892! I figured out how to learn the language naturally, as a native would without needing to go against my own unique way of developing a new skill. This is something that I can teach you to do with your English communication, if you choose me to help you in your journey. Aside from language, I have a 20-year background working with clients in the mental health field that struggled with a variety of disorders and situational stressors. I taught people how to break down their issues one by one and develop strategies to overcome each hurdle one at a time. Learning a language isn't as intimidating as people make it seem, it's really just a matter of finding out how you personally learn best and then building on that strength. Short Answer: My teaching style is patient, understanding and personalized. Long Answer: I don't believe that learning a language(skill) is a "one size fits all" kind of situation. My methodology in helping others is to first help them identify their strengths, before diving into any areas of needed improvement. Once a person can identify what they are doing correctly, they naturally gain a boost of self-esteem and confidence which will be needed for tackling more challenging aspects of a particular language skill. The next step is to clearly identify a goal and utilize their strengths to help them achieve it. Some of the techniques that I use to help students are as follows: -Create a custom sound profile (Helps students identify English sounds that they pronounce incorrectly) -Audio Homework Assignments (Students receive transcriptions of their audio with feedback and suggestions to improve their use of native phrases and sentence constructions) -Personalized Lesson Plans - (We focus on things that you are interested in)
