Toni-Ann
Hello!
Hi! I’m Toni, an English teacher from Kingston, Jamaica. I’ve been teaching languages for almost 17 years, and I’ve had the opportunity to work with students from many different countries and backgrounds both in the classroom and online. I love helping students become more confident English speakers through relaxed and engaging conversations. Whether you want to improve your everyday communication skills, practice speaking more naturally, prepare for a goal, or just have someone to talk with regularly, I’m here to support you. My lessons are personalised, and I always aim to create a comfortable environment where you can speak freely and learn from your mistakes. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, reviewing books, listening to music and podcasts, watching television, and learning about different cultures. I’ve also lived and taught in Japan for many years, so I understand the challenges and rewards of learning another language. I’d love the opportunity to meet you, learn about your goals, and help you on your English-learning journey. Let’s have a conversation!
I believe learning a language is about more than memorising grammar rules and vocabulary — it’s about connecting with people and feeling confident expressing yourself. I have almost 17 years of experience teaching languages, including eight years teaching Spanish in Jamaica and seven years teaching English in Japan. Throughout my career, I have worked with learners of all ages, from elementary school students to adults, and I have supported students with everyday communication, academic English, and exam preparation. I hold a Diploma in Teaching (Spanish Education), a TEFL certification, and a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Leicester. My background in language education has helped me develop a deep understanding of how people learn languages and how to create lessons that meet individual needs. Whether you want to improve your speaking fluency, practice conversation, prepare for a goal, or simply become more comfortable using English, I would love to support you on your learning journey.

Teaching Style
My teaching style is supportive, relaxed, and personalised. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable speaking, asking questions, and making mistakes without fear. During our lessons, I focus on helping you communicate more naturally and confidently. We can practice conversation, discuss topics that interest you, improve vocabulary and pronunciation, and work on areas where you would like extra support. Every student has different goals and learning styles, so I adapt my lessons to fit your needs. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where you can enjoy English while making real progress.
