Jaci
Hello!
Hello! First off, let me address the name; Jaci. (Pronounced Jackie.) My given name is Jacqueline, which is rather long. When I was a child I had dyslexia and could not spell my name without great difficulty, in fact I did not pass Kindergarten the first time. My parents had my name officially shortened, and I suppose they didn't want to leave any room for error, so "Jaci" was it. Through a great deal of speech therapy and tutoring, I overcame dyslexia, but kept my name short, as the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
As I mentioned earlier, I am a retired Air Traffic Controller. I worked for both the Military and as a civilian, as a DoD controller. Before that I was a crew chief on UH-1 helicopters, which is only a fancy term for flying mechanic. In between, I have been a waitress, a cook, a telemarketer, and a mom. I have two sons of my own and one son from my husband's previous marriage. They are all adults now, and have blessed us with 12 fabulous grandchildren. I also work part time in an Interpretive Center for the Port of Kalama, which is a small port on the Columbia River. I have had the opportunity to meet a wide variety of people from all over the world working at this growing Port.

Teaching Style
Actually, other than a brief stint teaching adults how to read, oooh, decades ago when I was in my 20's, this is my first attempt at tutoring so I am not entirely sure about my teaching style. I am retired now, but when I worked as an Air Traffic Controller, I trained dozens of people, but that was in a very specific arena. I would say that I am a listener. I will strive to listen and give instruction as necessary. It will be a learning experience for each of us.
