Cindy
Hello!
Thank you for checking out my profile. I am looking forward to meeting you, and helping you have wonderful conversation in English. Good Day, I am a certified and experienced teacher with over 40 years in the field of teaching and leadership. I enjoy tutoring since it is one-on-one. By listening closely to my students I am able to better understand their levels of learning. My favorite subjects to tutor are Math and English. I live in deep South Texas. If you look at a map of the United States, find Texas and then look for the very bottom of the State. That is where I am from. I get the opportunity to visit Mexico often and see the best of two countries. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies which means all subjects, and a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology. My Doctoral Degree is in Educational Leadership. When I was in a traditional classroom, the subject that I taught was Computer Literacy. The students enjoyed the class setting and content. I believe learning should be fun, and the classroom an exciting environment. As a Campus and District Administrator I had additional free time to tutor one-on-one. Throughout our community are several agencies that offer "English" or "GED" classes. A GED is an option for students to receive a High School Diploma. It is a privilege to tutor English on a volunteer basis throughout the community. For fun, I like to watch YouTub videos of food from around the world. Yes, you guessed it, I'm a "foodie". I like to try new things, especially cooking them myself. I have a rule of travel that wherever I go, I must try new and exciting food. Sometimes when I cook something new it is an epic fail and goes straight in the trash or to our chickens. But that is OK, I believe it is important to keep trying and never give up. And that is how I will help tutor you in our online class. I look forward to meeting you soon.
I received a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies and firmly believe that an education is integral for all areas. That is to say, Math does not stand along, neither does English or Science. When I conduct a Science Experiment, I use my English and Writing Skills for documentation. I use my Math Skills for calculations and data. I have written many lessons that incorporate more than one subject at a time. I always encourage my students to think about how much Math they use when they go to the mall shopping or somewhere. How else will they get the best deal for their money. My Master's Degree is in Instructional Technology. When we think about Technology, we often think about a device, smart phone, or laptop. This is true, but additionally we need to consider our thought processes, and how we incorporate Technology into our life. Over 100 years ago, people learned to use the tools of their time to survive. Today, we are thriving because they wanted to make things better. Thank goodness have modern Technology and use it to make our life easier. To continue, I felt it was important to gain as much knowledge as possible in teaching Technology. We want to do so much more than just use what we have, but to continue to expand and teach others to use their skills to continue this process. Someday there will be Flying Cars or Tele-Porters. This will be made possible by teaching the Instructional Technology Process. Finally, I did continue and receive a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. This allowed me to lead at a District and Campus Level. By having office hours, and not in a classroom all day, I was free to visit all classes on several campuses. This I believe taught me to be the best teacher of all. Over the last 15 years I have observed hundreds of lessons and gained knowledge from the best teachers. I also observed many students struggling, and was able to sit and tutor them one-on-one. Believe it or not, several students that I tutored did not struggle at all, but were at the top of their class. These are the identified Gifted and Talented students who frequently find trouble when they get bored. Their teachers allowed me to pull them from class and challenge their learning with exciting lessons and experiments.

Teaching Style
My favorite teaching style is the "inquiry" method. I listen to my students, watch their body language, and check for understanding quite frequently. This helps me to stay in synch with their levels of learning. I am a data driven educator, and when possible review all data of students to identify areas of strength and weaknesses. After all, if there is a strength and the student is knowledgeable, let's move on. If a student is struggling in a weak area, let's find multiple instructional methods to address this objective or concept. The bottom line for me in education and learning is "fun". Does it have to be fun? My answer is yes every time.
