Hello!
Hello! My name is Rachel, I was born in Wales, United Kingdom and recently moved to São Paulo. My passion is the Arts and I am a contemporary fine art painter. I have been extremely lucky to share my passion by teaching. Until I moved to Brasil, I was the head of a university degree ( BA) course - Fine Art Painting & Print making Department in Wales, UK. I have also been running private classes for groups and individuals. I love all culture, travel and food. Since moving to Brasil, I have been busy embracing everything Brasil – it's language, vibrancy, different cultures, traditions and most especially Brasil's best-kept secret, the amazing food here!
I met my now Brazilian husband whilst on an artist residency in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2014. At every opportunity, we would travel in Europe, U.K. and Brazil. We eventually decided to settle in São Paulo, a decision we don’t regret. My husband loves to practice his English, to the point where he obsesses over the differences between American and British English. He says he wants to speak like James Bond 007! We have a lot of fun with the language - I even taught him all the idioms, slang and even regional accents! His favorite is the Cockney rhyming slang, an East London slang that is used today as a form of expression in the British language. I have a young daughter who likes to keep me up to date with all the crazy things in the world of popular culture. Now we are settled in Brasil, my husband is introducing us to this absolutely amazing country. As a family, we have spent a lot of time traveling and look forward to many more adventures together.

Teaching Style
From my experience teaching in the Arts, I always spend time getting to know my students, their likes and interests to understanding their needs and expectations. As a consequence, each class is based around each student. I create an informal and relaxed atmosphere where the student feels at ease to talk about any subject they wish. Whether you are travelling for business, vacation or study, the class is tailored around you. My classes are for students who already have a good knowledge in English. I work with students who may not have spoken English in a long time or are looking to practise and to brush up on their skill. If you are nervous about speaking English, don't fear! I am here to help regain your confidence. As well as conversation, we would work on pronunciations and fun common idioms. Although relaxed and fun, my classes fulfill your specific needs in speaking English. Unfortunately, I do not tutor for examinations, tests or official certificates.
