Hello wonderful English learners! 😊 My name is Amy, and I’m a friendly and experienced English teacher from Cambridgeshire, England. I have worked in education for around 15 years and have specialised in teaching English as a Second Language for the past 5 years. I hold a Level 3 TEFL qualification and I am currently studying towards my Level 5 TEFL qualification, alongside specialist training in Business English and English exam preparation, including IELTS, TOEFL and TOEIC. I particularly enjoy working with adult learners who want to improve their English for everyday life, work, travel, university, exams, or simply to become more confident communicating in English. My lessons are friendly, relaxed and encouraging, but they also have a purpose. We can work together on conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading, fluency, Business English or exam preparation depending on your individual goals. I know that speaking another language can feel intimidating! I am currently learning Korean myself, so I understand how strange it can feel when you know what you want to say but can't quite find the words. You never need to worry about making mistakes in my classroom — mistakes are an important part of learning. 😊 I especially love working with regular students because it gives us the opportunity to build a learning plan together, follow your progress and develop your English over time. My classroom is welcoming, inclusive and judgement-free. Hello! 😊 I live in Cambridgeshire, England, where I have spent most of my life, although I have also lived in Brighton and Wales. I'm a naturally curious person and absolutely love learning. When I'm not teaching, you'll usually find me reading, studying, walking, hiking or planning my next adventure! I love exploring beautiful places and spending time outdoors. I'm also a language learner myself. I am currently studying Korean and working towards my long-term goal of taking the TOPIK exam. Learning another language has given me an even greater appreciation of the challenges my students face — especially those moments when you know exactly what you want to say, but your brain refuses to find the words! 😄 I have a particular interest in South Korea and Japan, including their languages, cultures, literature, entertainment and everyday life. I love meeting people from different backgrounds and learning about their lives and experiences. Reading and education are a huge part of my world. I am always studying something, whether that's Korean, teaching, language, culture or simply a subject I've suddenly become curious about! I am also a proud supporter and member of the LGBTQ+ community. 🏳️🌈 My classroom is an inclusive, welcoming and judgement-free space. Whoever you are and wherever you come from, you are welcome. One of my favourite things about teaching English is that I don't just get to teach — I get to learn from my students too. My teaching style is relaxed, friendly and supportive, but always focused on helping you make real progress. 😊 I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to your individual goals, interests, learning style and level of English. There is no single “right” way to learn a language! I want you to feel comfortable speaking English in my classroom, without worrying about making mistakes. Mistakes give us something to learn from, and I will support and correct you in a positive and encouraging way. For students who enjoy structure, we can work towards specific goals using planned lessons and learning materials. If you prefer conversation-based learning, we can use interesting topics, articles, reading and real-life discussions to develop your vocabulary, pronunciation and natural fluency. I particularly enjoy working with regular adult learners, as this allows me to get to know how you learn, identify areas we can develop and build on your progress from lesson to lesson. Whether you are improving your English for work, study, travel, an exam or simply because you love learning, my aim is to create a classroom where you feel comfortable, challenged and excited to keep improving. ❤️
