The foundation to learning a new language is learning vocabulary and through conversational practise, just like children initially learn. Alongside this the use of spatial repetition flash cards to memorize and revise vocabulary. These are the methods with which I learnt to speak a foreign language and feel they are applicable to the learning of English or any other language. Gradually incorporating grammar once the student has enough vocabulary will allow them to improve furthermore. However if a student desired to learn grammar specifically, this could also be done via reading, analysing text and QNA's.
