Christine
Hello!
Hello! My name is Christine, and I would love to assist you to learn and improve your English. I am originally from Oxford in England, and my English is considered to be very clear and easy to understand for foreigners. I have also lived in Germany, France and Portugal, and now I call sunny Marbella in southern Spain my home. I have given English conversation and support lessons for students, young and old, for many years, and I really enjoy doing this, and seeing how my students gain in confidence and knowledge through my classes. In 2019 I also achieved my Qualifi Level 5 certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (or TEFL.) I usually start by ascertaining what level my student is at, and then working out a plan as to what I think is the best way forward - also taking into account what they want to do in our time together. I normally go over the basics first of all, for example, numbers, colours, animals, foods etc etc, and then build on this to form sentences and then more fluid conversations. Students should be challenged at the classes, but also find them really enjoyable - and this is the beauty of using Cambly to build confidence in the English language bit by bit just by speaking. My focus has always been on conversation, followed by accuracy. If a student wants, I give some exercises and practice as homework, but only if desired. I keep my classes fun and interesting, and provide as much or as little support as wished for. I am used to helping complete beginners all the way up to fluent speakers who may just need that certain boost to keep their level up, or before an important meeting or appointment. I also have fun talking with children from a very young age, and use various resources or games to facilitate their learning. I am flexible with my time, and I look forward to hearing from you so that we can make a start!
I was born near Oxford in England, but I am lucky now to have the Irish nationality as well, through my Irish father. So I am still in the EU, which makes living in Spain much easier! I have made lots of friends here, and my hobbies are reading, listening to music (lots of different types as well as suggestions from my DJ daughter!), dancing, hiking, and meeting up with pals over coffee or tapas.

Teaching Style
My classes are fun and interesting, but I make my pupils work so that they have the feeling that they have achieved something at the end of the lesson. I use various resources to help with my preparation for classes, in order to be always prepared for any student who may contact me at any time. Foreign language learning is a really important and challenging subject, and I am again having first-hand experience of this as I get to grips with my Spanish here in Marbella. The different resources I am using, and the level of success I am having with them, has been extremely valuable to the way I teach my own students of English. I make sure I cater to the individual student's needs, whether that is gentle first contact in the English language with a young child, or a conversation about thoughts on current affairs with a fluent speaker; but there is usually plenty of laughter involved and a feeling for the student of having definitely enhanced their ability when the time is up!
