Mike
Hello!
Hello, I’m Mike, a Cambly Super Tutor with over three years of experience helping adult students improve their English. I’m a friendly, patient and supportive tutor, and I want you to feel comfortable speaking English from the moment we start. My lessons are relaxed but productive, and I adapt them to your level, goals and personality. I specialise in IELTS preparation, but I also enjoy helping students with conversational English, grammar, pronunciation and practical English for work, travel and everyday life. Some students prefer a structured lesson with clear corrections and feedback. Others simply want to relax, have an interesting conversation and become more confident speaking English. Either is fine with me. I work with adults from many different countries and backgrounds, and I understand that speaking a foreign language can sometimes feel difficult or intimidating. Don't worry about making mistakes, that's part of learning. If you want a tutor who will listen, encourage you, correct you when needed and help you become a more confident English speaker, I'd be very happy to meet you. I look forward to talking with you!
I’m an optimistic, friendly and patient English tutor with a positive personality, a good sense of humour, and over three years of experience teaching on Cambly. I work with adult students of all English levels, from beginners to advanced learners, and I adapt my lessons to each student’s needs, goals and interests. I specialise in IELTS preparation, particularly IELTS Speaking, and help students improve their speaking fluency, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, accuracy and exam technique. I also teach conversational English, business English, English for work and English for travel. Whether you need structured IELTS exam practice or simply want to become more confident speaking English, I can tailor the lesson to you. I believe English learning should be practical, useful and enjoyable rather than feeling like a chore. My lessons are relaxed and supportive, but I will also give you clear corrections, useful feedback and plenty of opportunities to speak. I love travel and meeting people from different cultures, and I have visited more than 50 countries. I currentlyspend most of my time in the Philippines, where I previously owned and ran a bar. This gave me valuable real-world experience in business communication, customer service and everyday English. I love travelling and meeting people from different countries, and I’ve visited more than 50 countries myself. I’m genuinely interested in people, their lives and their cultures, so my lessons often develop into natural conversations about travel, food, work, family, culture and everyday life. I think this is one of the best ways to improve conversational English because you’re talking about things you actually find interesting, rather than simply answering textbook questions. Outside of teaching, I enjoy EPL football, snooker, cricket, golf, basketball, movies, music, cooking and keeping fit. I’m easy to talk to and my goal is to create a relaxed, comfortable and encouraging environment where you can speak freely, make mistakes without worrying, and steadily build your English confidence and communication skills.

Teaching Style
My teaching style is relaxed, friendly and focused on getting you speaking. I teach adult learners aged 16+ at all English levels, and I adapt each lesson to your goals, level and personality. I use Cambly lessons, Engoo-style discussion articles, current events and real-life topics to create interesting conversations and help you develop speaking fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. I don’t believe every lesson needs to follow a textbook. Sometimes you need structured practice, and sometimes the best lesson is simply a great conversation where you can speak naturally and receive useful feedback. I have a particular interest in IELTS preparation and IELTS Speaking, and I can help with speaking practice, exam technique, structured discussions, presentations and building confidence under test conditions. I’ll correct mistakes when they matter, explain why something is incorrect, and give you better or more natural ways to express yourself. Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable speaking. You don’t need perfect English to have a good conversation, making mistakes is part of learning. My job is to help you speak more confidently, communicate more naturally, and make steady progress towards your goals.
