Learning a new language is an incredible opportunity to forge connections and cross cultural barriers. I am eager to help you along in your learning as we venture through the interests and ideas that you would like to be able to express. I have experience learning a foreign language as well (Spanish) and can share some of the methods that have helped me improve my own language studies.
I am a wife and mother of five children. I'm from the United States, and I have also lived in Mexico where I learned some Spanish. I enjoy cooking, baking, exercising, hiking, reading, singing, playing oboe and piano, and listening to music, especially classical music. I make time to study world events, history, and religions. Understanding other cultures and perspectives is important to me, and so I welcome the chance to hear your experiences and opinions.

I believe learning a language takes personal initiative and consistency. Tutoring is a tool to supplement independent study. My goal is to help students develop a pattern of study that is organized, efficient, and adapted to their unique goals and interests at a pace that can be maintained in the long run. I want to teach in a way that helps students gain the skills to feel confident learning on their own once our sessions have ended. My personality is well suited for inquisitive learners who value gentle correction in a safe and friendly environment. While casual conversation can be a great way to maintain English skills, using some kind of lesson material (a Cambly course or a reading sample) provides a better foundation for an organized and productive lesson. Students who bring materials they are interested in generally have more productive lessons.
