Shemar
Hello!
(VACATION 12/12-12/25) Hello, and thank you for taking a look at my profile! I am from the United States, currently living in Chicago. I currently work as a Student Support Specialist at a university in the city assisting and supporting many students who have different needs on campus and who are sometimes in crisis. In my prior job, I worked on the digital investment aspects of advertising campaigns for Kelloggs. I graduated college with my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management & Entrepreneurship and a concentration in Spanish and in June 2021 I received my Masters of Science in Entrepreneurship. I hope to use my education in the business world and to uniquely combine it with my creative endeavors. Some of my hobbies and interests include creative writing, film and animation, fashion, watching movies, exercising, listening to music, playing tennis and the saxophone, and singing. Although I was born and grew up in the United States, my parents are originally from Jamaica so I come from a multicultural background of appreciating different languages, foods, and music. My cultural background is what makes me love and value diversity so much and encourages me to want to meet other people from different cultures, countries, and backgrounds. I love learning other languages in my free time. I currently speak English, Spanish (advanced but not yet fluent) and Patois (Jamaican dialect). I just started learning French, Korean, Chinese, Japanese and German but only the very basics so it’s going to take me some time :) I am so excited to connect with anyone who wants to learn and practice English. I am very friendly and very easy to talk to so please don’t hesitate to connect with me. I want to make sure you feel comfortable and confident in your English but also want to learn more about you, your culture, and language as well! If my schedule doesn't seem to align with yours, please feel free to reach out and ask if there's an alternative time outside of my calendar and I will check for you :) I look forward to connecting with you! Shemar (PLEASE NOTE: I usually don't accept pre-scheduled weekly repeat lessons only because my schedule changes very frequently and I may not always be available at the same time, therefore, I usually prefer normal appointments so I don't have to cancel the lesson)

Teaching Style
I would say my style would be very conversational-based. I want people to feel comfortable speaking English and therefore they should feel comfortable speaking with me first. I will probably start off with asking you a lot of questions just so I can get to know you better and get to know your level of speaking, and of course, you can ask me questions, too. My hope is to cover a lot of different topics during our session in areas you feel comfortable speaking about such as school, work, your hobbies and interests, and maybe your holiday and weekend plans, etc. I will provide feedback where appropriate on how to improve your speaking skills maybe during our conversation or at the end of our session.
