Hello!

Hi there, My name is Mannie and I was born in Cape Town and now live between London and Bosmoreau les mines, France. I started out fifty years ago as a maths teacher but after a few years went into commerce. I rose through the ranks of financial services and became the Deputy General Manager and then CEO of an international life assurance company and after ten years in this position left South Africa and moved to PortugaI with my wife. We bought a restaurant on the Algarve which we had for three and a half years. We sold the restaurant and then moved to England where we bought a small hotel which we ran for nineteen years. We then retired and moved to France where I write articles for dentists and lawyers websites. During my time in financial services the ,restaurant and the hotel I have spent many hours teaching both English and foreign staff about the business and also business English so that they could communicate with the customers. I have come across many people who would like to speak English and that is why after all these years I have come back to teaching. some of my lessons are to help students with their interview and meeting techniques. I run on average 50 kilometres a week and play tennis, golf and chess.

I believe that with all my experience working and training different people in different parts of the world that I have learned how to best guide people to get the best out of what they do. That also applies to teaching a language, I like the student to feel and enjoy a sense of achievement from their efforts. Something that is vitally important for the student is that their lessons are tailored to suit their needs.
