Hello!
Hi there! I’m Spence, and I am from the United States of America. I am very passionate about learning languages, and through this passion, I have learned what does and doesn’t work for learning languages. For me, textbooks and various internet resources help, but often times there are aspects that only a native speaker can explain to me. I use this experience of learning other languages to aid in my methods of teaching and explanation in learning various aspects of the English language. I am someone who is always looking for a conversation and someone who is always looking to find new methods of learning and teaching. As such, I am someone who not only finds it quite enjoyable to be able to help others learn a new language, but someone who wants to have fun while doing so and to keep trying to get the best out of my students. I am someone who has a passion not only for history, but for other cultures as well, and am therefore always someone willing to start up a new conversation, and am willing to talk about a wide range of topics. I am someone who loves a good joke (I am also the king of sarcasm according to my friends), and therefore try to make learning something new not feel like learning, but rather as a fun experience that is to be looked forward to. I am someone who loves to travel, try new foods, and am a MAJOR movie fan, whether it be something from a month ago all the way back to the silent era. I also am a major sports nut and am always following the major sports news of the world.

Teaching Style
I am someone who has experience teaching young children the very basics of English, all the way to helping professors in Germany to write papers in English. As such, I have learned that each student must be approached differently. I particularly try to focus on examples of how to use something in speech and when not to use it. While I feel that learning from an English textbook can be helpful, I also realize that this means much of the time that people do not know how to apply whatever they learn. As a result, I also try to seek an application for whatever is being learned. I am someone who is diligent in their work and always strives for success, however someone who also has been told is very patient and understanding of someone's struggles with learning. As I have learned to be fluent in a foreign language (German), I understand how frustrating learning a language can be, and therefore can use this experience while helping students to gain a better grasp of the English language.
