Clare
Hello!
Hi, My name's Clare, I'm British but lived in the US when a child, and also southern Italy for 5 years. I have a passion for travelling and have been to Southeast Asia, India, Central and South America, Cuba, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. This passion was the reason I studied Applied Anthropology at the University of London. I find cultural differences fascinating, particularly language, gestures, values, diet and norms. I also love partaking in unusual adrenalin activities like white water rafting, bungee swinging and paragliding, to name a few. I have taught English and IGCSE Sociology in primary, secondary and high schools for 3 years in Italy and at English language schools in the UK. I have a CELTA qualification and have invigilated and supported with Cambridge speaking exams. I think to become comfortable at speaking English you have to chat about things that interest you, are entertaining and relevant. We all have amazing experiences to share, and I want to hear yours.
I love to travel as the world is such an incredible place, as are the people in it. I speak basic Italian after living in Italy for 5 years. I think it is important to be as stress free as possible in this crazy world, so enjoy yoga, long walks, reading and chilling out. I also really enjoy cooking and eating healthy international cuisine particularly Lebanese, Indian, Thai and Italian. I have been vegetarian for over 20 years which always surprises some people! I currently live with two beautiful black cats who don't like each other very much!

Teaching Style
My teaching style really depends on the age I am teaching and what the needs are. One thing that is common throughout though, is to make lessons as interactive as possible and encourage students to practise speaking. To encourage speaking I believe it's crucial to focus on topics that are of interest and relevant to people's lives and to bring some humour to lessons.
