Hello, my name is Tanja. Speaking 4 languages myself, I passionately believe that language opens up a whole new world of cultural insight, understanding, and interpersonal connections that foster brain-changing learning, growth, and love for the world. I have taught many subjects over the past 25 years, but teaching ESL specifically the last 8 years has changed me forever. I want to share these opportunities and useful skills with others in my classroom. What makes you passionate and talkative? >> From an early age I have been an adventurer because I was curious about others and their lives. Traveling and being able to learn the stories of others, even through body language and other non-verbal means, has always been so very exciting for me. I worked as a paramedic for many years and taught emergency skills even longer. What an experience! But once I switched to sharing language ability and confidence, I was reminded of all the beautiful things concise communication has added to my life. What fun to share experiences with new friends and tell stories about climbing mountains, diving oceans, kayaking rivers, or creating art in the garden, in the kitchen, through music, and on the canvas! Teaching Style
In my classroom, the most important focus is an engaging conversation. This conversation doesn’t have to be grammatically perfect. However, it will be fun and interesting as much as possible to involve all the senses. This increases memory and recall with continued practice. During our sincere conversations, grammar skills will become more consistent as confidence also grows.
