Hello!

Hi there, I'm Nick. I started teaching EFL/ESL in 2015 in Istanbul then went on to teach in Poland for short spell and Bosnia and Herzegovina (where I am usually based for six month of each year. Teaching at International Burch University was a great experience but I mostly teach online these days (since 2017). If you goal is to gain confidence communicating in English verbally you are in luck as that is one of the things I like to focus the most on in my teaching.

My first TEFL work experience was in Istanbul in 2015, I had a lot of ups and downs but it was certainly a very valuable learning experience. I was teaching students aged fifteen to adults from beginners to upper intimidates. I enjoy being as creative as possible with lessons, as a creative writer my biggest strengths are my vocabulary and sentence construction and conceptual aspects of English. I find language and communication highly intruding, the more knowledge I can gain on it the more creative I can be with it, which is something that love transferring to my writing. Prior to teaching in Istanbul, I helped follow artists in the Balkans with creative writing in English. I went on to teach a “Speaking and Listening” module for entering students at International University of Burch in Sarajevo which was a pleasure. The classes were also open to who wanted to learn English in general, most of which were adults. Along with high school leavers who looking to get into the university there were also young people learning to help increase job opportunities locally. I Thoroughly enjoyed my time at the university for a myriad of reasons but the satisfaction of knowing I was giving a valued service to students was definitely the icing on the cake. After leaving my position at IBU due to a combination of visa issues and a corporate takeover of the university I started working online with the Tutor ABC company which I have thoroughly enjoyed until the company got restructured through a corporate takeover, I taught from ages 5-6 all the way through to adults. The combination of in class and online experience has helped me develop different expects of my teaching and my experience in the ex -Yugoslavia region has given me a good understand of Slavic communication that could be useful. From my experience one of the biggest issues English language learners have is learning how to put spoken English into practice. Therefore, one of my key aims is the get students speaking with clarity and confidence.
