Gina
Hello!
PLEASE NOTE: I am not accepting students below intermediate level, or children at this time. Hi! I'm Gina, an experienced American English tutor with nearly 10,000 lessons completed on Cambly. I especially enjoy working with intermediate to advanced adults who want to become more natural, confident English speakers. My lessons are relaxed and conversation-based, but we're not just chatting! I listen carefully, offer corrections, help you expand your vocabulary, and explain the grammar, expressions, and cultural context behind the English you hear and use every day. I love working with curious people and I'm comfortable discussing a wide range of subjects—from everyday life, travel, culture, and relationships to business, healthcare, science, and professional topics. Whether you'd like an interesting conversation or want to focus more closely on a particular language skill, we'll make the lesson useful to you. My professional background also allows me to help with business and professional communication, interviews, presentations, and medical English. Healthcare professionals are especially welcome, and I can help with medical terminology, pronunciation, and clinical communication. My strongest clinical background is in cardiology, cardiovascular intervention, and critical care, and I also have experience supporting students with OET and NCLEX. I now live outside the United States and am learning Spanish myself, so I understand both the rewards and the frustrations of communicating in another language! If you already have enough English to have a conversation and want to become more fluent, accurate, and comfortable expressing yourself, I'd love to meet you.
I'm an American living abroad in Mexico, where I'm also learning Spanish. Being a language student myself has given me a whole new appreciation for the challenges, surprises, and occasional comedy of trying to communicate in another language! I've had a wonderfully varied professional life. Before becoming an English tutor, I worked in restaurant and retail management, sales and marketing, healthcare, nursing education, and even spent eight years driving a school bus. I'm a retired Registered Nurse with a strong clinical background in cardiology, cardiovascular intervention, and critical care, and I've also owned a small business All of that means I'm comfortable talking with people from many different professions, cultures, backgrounds, and stages of life. I'm genuinely curious about people and the world around me, and I love conversations about culture, travel, food, healthcare, psychology, relationships, history, art, architecture, business, current life—and all the wonderfully unexpected places a good conversation can go. Outside of teaching, I love animals, good food, movies, travel, art, and discovering more about the country I now call home. I'm always learning something, which is probably why I enjoy spending my days talking with people from around the world.

Teaching Style
My teaching style is relaxed, conversational, and responsive to you. I love the unexpected tangents that happen during a good conversation—often, that's where some of the best learning takes place! While we're talking, I'm also listening carefully to your English. I'll help you notice grammar patterns, improve pronunciation, expand your vocabulary, and find more natural ways to express what you really mean. I also enjoy explaining idioms, everyday expressions, and the cultural context behind the language. Some students prefer frequent correction and focused grammar practice; others learn best through conversation with occasional guidance. We'll find the balance that works for you. My goal is for our lessons to feel comfortable and interesting while still giving you something useful to take away from every class.
