Hello! My name is Melissa, and I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have been a professional cook for most of my life, but I have also taught at a university here in the United States. I have recently received my TEFL certificate and am so excited to work with new students. Working with me, you will be able to feel more comfortable in speaking English as we focus on your needs. I love to be outside, especially hiking and camping in beautiful places all over the world. Travel is a big part of my life and learning about other cultures is my favorite part of it. I have been lucky to get to travel throughout North America along with many other countries including Germany, New Zealand, Ireland, Greece, Fiji, Turkey, Italy, and the Dominican Republic. I have many more places on my list to visit as well. Cooking was my prior profession and is still a huge passion of mine. You can learn a lot about other cultures through food, too! Some of my favorite dishes come from all over the world. I’m excited to learn about your favorite dishes! I love jigsaw puzzles, stargazing, pocket billiards, and reading. I’m adventurous and love to try new things and get to know new people!

I am a positive, patient, and energetic tutor. I like to have fun in my classroom and get to know my students as we work to improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. English grammar and pronunciation can be tricky, and the rules can be confusing. Together, we can work on these important skills in a stress-free environment. I’m open to students at all levels, but I am particularly good with intermediate to advanced language learners.
