Welcome! Please call me Lee. I’m a proud native-born American, and I’m just as excited to connect with people from every culture on this amazing planet we share. Whatever you want to do with your English (pass a test, lead a meeting, or simply speak with confidence), I can help you get there. After more than twenty years as a Public Affairs practitioner, I bring the breadth of experience and depth of nuance to teach communication, not just language. I live in a small Midwestern town near my family. I speak clear, neutral American English with no noticeable regional accent, the kind you hear from national news broadcasters, which makes it ideal for learners. I lived in Italy for three years and have traveled across Europe, to Kuwait, and most recently to Thailand, so I know what it’s like to find your way in a new language and culture. When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me writing fiction, taking photographs, cycling, or catching a movie or a live show. I look forward to meeting you!

Teaching Style
My teaching style is highly adaptable, because communication is what I do! Let’s discover together how you learn best and what we need to do to reach your goals. If you want a school-like environment complete with homework, I can do that. If you want to learn slang, idioms, and professional jargon, I can do that too. But my favorite way to teach and to learn is through thoughtful, well-prepared discussion: we choose a topic we both care about, read and research it, and then explore it in depth together. I specialize in human-to-human communication, because I believe real understanding between people is how we build a better world. American English shows how rich that understanding can be: many words share meanings, and many sayings change meaning depending on where and how they’re used. Whatever path you choose, I’ll help you do more than speak, read, and write American English. I’ll help you truly understand it and communicate with confidence.
