Hello!

Hello! My name is Emer. I love learning languages and now I love teaching English. I worked in a childcare facility where I helped young children learn English. I am currently travelling and I would be so happy to join you on your journey of language learning. I can provide learning activities, support, and answer any questions you may have about the English language. I would really love to hear from you. Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile!

I grew up in Ireland where I studied to be a chef at 18 years old. I spent 5 years traveling and working in many different kitchens across the world including in Australia and France. After this, I took a change of direction in my career and studied both TEFL and Childcare. I now work in a childcare facility teaching young children English and I work online giving English lessons to people. I love teaching English and I would love to join you on your English language journey!

Teaching Style

The best way to learn a language is to speak with a native speaker. I encourage students to talk about themselves and their lives. I also share information about my own life so they can practice listening to English too. I follow a few different styles of English teaching, the first one being Communicative Language Teaching or CLT. This is when I help the learner communicate more effectively by focusing on day-to-day speech such as thanking, suggesting, inviting, complaining, and asking for directions. Another great way of learning is Total Physical Response. This is when I can use actions to show the students what a word means such as 'stand up, 'sit down, 'close the door', 'turn on the light'.
