Mark
Hello!
Hello and welcome to Cambly. My name is Mark and I am from Ireland (though I have an English accent). I moved to Bulgaria 3 years ago from Istanbul,Turkey, where I worked as a primary school teacher in a prestigious school for 12 years. I now live in a small village in the countryside of Bulgaria with 2 dogs and 4 cats - and a Brazilian partner ! I have 6 children - 3 boys and 3 girls - who are all adults. Unfortunately, after 12 years of teaching young children in Turkey,I have now chosen to only teach adults on Cambly. Since I am Irish, I love to talk! Lessons are relaxed and the conversation always flows freely. Good luck with your English learning and I hope to meet you soon :-)
In my spare time I enjoy listening to music, watching football (I am a huge Luton Town supporter), gardening, reading and travelling abroad to experience new cultures. People from Ireland love conversation, so I look forward to meeting students from all around the world, having some interesting chats and learning about their culture.

Teaching Style
As a teacher I believe that lessons should be fun and interesting. I want my students to look forward to coming to my class and leave with a smile on their face. The more you enjoy the lessons, the more you will learn. I send my students a news article in a word document 1-2 days before the lesson and highlight all of the key words. This gives the student a chance to read the article before the lesson and translate any unfamiliar words. In the lesson we read the article to check for pronunciation and then we discuss the article in detail. Each article comes with 6-12 pre-prepared questions. All the articles are interesting social and world topics such as climate change, gender equality, racism etc. The main focus of my lessons is conversation, and given the topics discussed, students will be introduced to a wider range of new vocabulary. If time allows we then do some vocabulary revision - matching words to definitions and matching words in the document to its synonym (word that has the same meaning). Students also have the option of writing me a short essay after the lesson based on the questions asked in class. I will then correct where necessary, offer some suggestions and then send it back to them (this is optional). Therefore, a 30 minute lesson covers all areas of the English language (reading, pronunciation, speaking, listening, vocabulary and writing - if you choose!)
