Jo
Hello!
Hello, my name is Jo, and I’m an English tutor from Oxford, England — a beautiful city famous for its world-class university and its appearance in several Harry Potter films. I’m here to help you learn, practise and enjoy this incredible language. Whether you want to improve your everyday English, learn useful idioms and business English, take part in fun and productive activities, or simply have a friendly conversation, I’ll be here to support you every step of the way. My aim is to help you feel comfortable, confident and motivated while you learn. Most importantly, I want you to enjoy speaking English!
The saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” certainly applies to me! Although I may look quite serious as a tutor, I’m anything but. In fact, my friends know me as “the crazy one”! When I’m not teaching, I love scuba diving, relaxing at spas, walking along the beach and watching films. I’m also a big music fan, and my playlist includes everything from George Michael, Teddy Swims and Coldplay to BTS, Silk Sonic, Sam Smith and Lady Gaga. So, if you’re looking for a tutor who takes teaching seriously but doesn’t take themselves too seriously, you’ve come to the right place!

Teaching Style
As a teacher, I respect your decision to learn something new, and I understand that learning a language can sometimes feel challenging. My aim is to create a safe, friendly and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable, relaxed and confident. I listen carefully to your needs, goals and preferences, and I adapt my teaching style to suit you. You’ll find me friendly, encouraging and patient, and I’ll always do my best to make your lessons enjoyable and useful. I’m also learning Spanish, so I understand many of the challenges that come with learning a new language. Remembering lots of new words can feel overwhelming, especially at the beginning. Speaking can be difficult when you come across unfamiliar sounds, and grammar can sometimes seem confusing. It’s also completely normal to feel nervous or worried about making mistakes when speaking. Cultural differences can also affect the way we communicate, but these differences can make language learning even more interesting and rewarding. Most importantly, you don’t need to be perfect. Making mistakes is a natural part of learning, and I’m here to help you practise, build your confidence and enjoy the journey.
