Hi. My name's Mike. I have 20 years experience in the teaching profession with IELTS preparation and adult education. My areas of focus include speech and fluency, coherency, accent reduction and pronunciation features. Japanese students in particular are very welcome.
I love classical, opera and Jazz music, having been a musician for many years; as well as old classic films, documentaries and classic TV series.

Teaching Style
I encourage my students to speak and develop their responses in a relaxed and stress free environment. I record vocabulary, useful phrases, pronunciation and grammatical inaccuracies during the lesson and discuss these, usually at the end of the class or by message, and give advice as to how these areas can be corrected. I concentrate on topics and areas that interest my students, relative to professional development or personal interests. Talking about their interests creates an immediate bond and I develop this Student/Teacher relationship as a motivating force.
