Hello!
A Customs Officer for 32 years and every day speaking with foreigners, I am now very excited to help develop English language for those at all levels from basic to proficient.
I am currently travelling throughout the world with my partner. We look after homes and pets while the owners are away. It is very exciting to experience life among other cultures, and not as a tourist but a resident! I love to keep fit, including running and cycling. My passion is hiking, particularly in the mountains and I have now completed eleven long distance trails in the United Kingdom and a marathon. I was top of the class in English Literature - way back! - we were so lucky to be inspired by our teachers, particularly a Welshman who was absolutely passionate about literature and an Irish poet who brought to the school his friends; including the famous Seamus Heaney -- so naturally I still love books. I really appreciate my life on Cambly and the opportunity to meet people from all over the world (all of you are individuals, with your own special lives and aspirations). Having now nearly 5800 student sessions and 108000 minutes tutoring, through sheer dedication I have sharpened my English language teaching techniques and resources to provide an excellent service for you all.

I am friendly, flexible and fun when working with my students. I am very happy to work with those of all ages, all levels and from all cultures/backgrounds. We study together and have full open communication - so if you like something you tell me and if you don't you also tell me, and we thus move forward in the best way for you as an individual! Meanwhile I will give you continuous feedback, correction and suggestions of alternative ways to express your thoughts. We firstly identify what you want to achieve and then, if you wish, make a plan for your tuition with target dates. You will see progress every tuition session, and we never forget the importance of the foundation of language - it is important to constantly build up vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. I like to give you variety, so we use the Cambly student library, learning platforms, literature and other interesting techniques such as looking at a mysterious photograph and then using your imagination you tell me a little story. You will learn formal English with me, but I will make sure you will be able to confidently have a conversation on the street with Scots, Irish, English, American people, and all the many other varieties of English speaker! **Please note, I do Not give permission for any recordings of our Cambly sessions to be published in whole or in part on YouTube or any other public platforms**
