Hello, I'm Amy. I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language since 2017. I've been teaching on Cambly since 2019. My true passion is to help my students with their English learning in all areas such as; grammar, reading, expanding their vocabulary, sentence structure, accent reduction and especially with pronunciation. A Pronunciation Coach is what you need! Learning a language does not simply involve listening, it is also visual. It involves the proper placement of the mouth, lips, and most importantly, the tongue, in order to produce the sounds properly. I have successfully had my students reproduce difficult sounds such as the letters “R”, “L” and “TH”, for example. Proper placement is what will make you successful in reproducing these new sounds. If your instructor is unable to see your mouth, their ability to help you form these sounds is reduced. I am a language learner myself, so I know how important proper placement is. In English the sounds b, c, d, e, g, p, t, v, and z sound very similar on the phone, when we are unable to see each other. How about reserving a lesson with a Business English Coach? General English won’t get you hired—strategic communication will. I also specialize in Interview Preparation, where I use my Human Resources background to help you prepare for interviewing. I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Psychology, a Legal Assistant Studies Certification, and a 120 hour Advanced TEFL Certification. Prior to teaching, my education and work experience prepared me for my career as a Human Resource Manager. This involved properly spoken and clearly written Business English. I have sat on the other side of the desk. I know exactly what hiring managers look for so I can help you in these areas. I teach online private and group lessons, as well as in person classes at a private language school for adult students. I have also taught virtually in China for several years. I have a love for language, and teaching is what I enjoy doing most. I like to incorporate humor into the classroom when I teach because I think learning should be a fun and enjoyable experience. I want you to feel comfortable, and I know when you're not, therefore I will work even harder to put you at ease. Mistakes are OK, and they are actually a part of learning! I have a wide range of interests to include psychology, nutrition and fitness, world events, religion, politics, law, business, and more. During college I worked as a fitness trainer where I taught exercise and nutrition. I love language and have been learning Spanish since the age of 14. I've leveled up in Spanish twice and understood well enough to sit in on a Spanish business meeting and follow along. I have a large vocabulary, but I've also leveled back down and lost my language gains twice, due to inconsistency in studying and practicing, so I know just how difficult it is to learn a language and find the time to devote to it, but if you don't use it, you lose it. I love a good discussion and I'm always researching my favorite topics. I'm a very curious person. I like to read and I LOVE music. Do you have Synesthesia?
