Hello! My name is Jay, and I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and fluency in English. I hold a PhD and work as an English professor at University of the People, where I teach students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds. I have experience helping learners improve conversation skills, pronunciation, grammar, academic writing, and professional communication. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and focused on creating a comfortable environment where students feel confident speaking English. I enjoy meeting people from around the world and learning about different cultures. Outside of teaching, I enjoy walking, technology, language learning, movies, and exploring new ideas in education and AI. I have more than 25 years of teaching experience working with students of different ages, backgrounds, and learning styles. For the past 7 years, I have specialized in teaching English, helping students improve their speaking, listening, pronunciation, grammar, reading, writing, and overall confidence in communication. I hold a PhD and currently work as an English professor at University of the People. My academic background and years of classroom experience have given me strong expertise in English instruction, academic communication, and student-centered learning. My teaching methodology is highly student-focused. I believe that students learn best when lessons are connected to their personal interests, goals, and real-life situations. I design lessons around each student’s needs, whether they want to improve conversational fluency, prepare for interviews, strengthen grammar, practice pronunciation, or develop academic and professional English skills. I aim to create a supportive and relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and actively participating. I adapt my teaching style to each learner’s level and pace, using conversation practice, guided correction, interactive activities, and practical examples to make lessons engaging and effective. I especially enjoy helping students build confidence in speaking naturally and communicating clearly in everyday, academic, and professional situations.
