Matt
Hello!
Welcome! I’m Matt—a cloud systems engineer, software architect, and English tutor. 😊 I help professionals, university students, and young adults communicate clearly and confidently in English. Preparing for a software engineering interview? Presenting a project? Building confidence for international work or study? Bring your goals—and your interests—to class. We’ll combine conversation with practical feedback on grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and natural expression. Developers, lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and students are all welcome. Let’s turn what you know into English you can use.
🌍 Technical experience. Global perspective. Practical English. I’ve travelled to 13 countries, lived in three, and explored different regions of the United States. I enjoy meeting people with different backgrounds and helping them express their ideas in their own voice. 💻 English for technology and software engineering My background in cloud engineering and software architecture helps us go beyond general conversation. We can discuss software development, Python, JavaScript, APIs, databases, AWS, cloud computing, DevOps, cybersecurity, generative AI, LLMs, and AI agents. Bring a project you can share, explain your workflow, or practise a technical interview. We’ll work on explaining complex ideas, answering follow-up questions, and communicating with colleagues and clients. 💼 English for professional life Whether you work in law, medicine, business, or another field, we can practise introducing your expertise, explaining processes in plain language, participating in meetings, and delivering presentations. Lessons focus on your English communication and the situations you encounter. 🎓 Students and young adults I especially enjoy teaching young adults who are finding their direction, preparing for university, or starting their careers. We can build everyday conversation skills, discuss your studies, and practise interviews and academic presentations at a pace that suits you. 💬 Conversations with substance Beyond work, I enjoy philosophy, history, culture, innovation, and life abroad. Outside class, you’ll find me practising martial arts, lifting weights, surfing, or spending time at the beach. Expect conversation, useful corrections, and opportunities to try again. Book a lesson and tell me what you want to communicate better—we’ll build from there.

In class, I focus on guided learning, practical language foundations, and light dictation to help you understand how English works in real contexts. Our sessions are mostly conversation-based, with flexibility to focus on specific areas you want to improve.
