Hi. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I provide interesting, in-depth, and challenging ONE-TO-ONE CONVERSATION/DISCUSSION practice. I tutor SPEAKING levels of INTERMEDIATE level and above; AGE 16+ and ADULTS. My teaching approach is unconventional. I am passionate about helping others. Please read all sections of the tutor's profile before reserving a class or making contact. As the tutor’s profile is there to help students, I only accept students who have respectfully read and understood my full profile beforehand. This is fair; it ensures all expectations are clear and helps avoid late cancellation penalties if the student needs to cancel due to suitability. I am a sensitive tutor, so there is no need to be worried about starting a conversation or making mistakes. Fair, honest, and friendly. Integrity and accountability are important to me. I believe in being honest with students to ensure a good student-tutor match, being mindful of students’ money and time, and realistically managing expectations and confidence levels. I assume that the information in the student’s profile and written bio is accurate and reflects current needs. WHAT I OFFER: I provide something different - interesting, complex, and in-depth discussions (not daily conversation). I prefer to challenge my students out of their comfort zone. A strong INTERMEDIATE level in speaking is required for my classes. This is for the benefit of the student and to preserve self-confidence. My sessions are relaxed, unstructured, and I help develop the following within conversations/discussions: vocabulary, idioms, and critical thinking. DISCUSSION TOPICS: I work from my own list of topics. A few specific examples of topics are: honesty, natural disasters, immortality, memories, fears, relationships, discussion of interesting quotes...and more. Topics that I do not discuss are politics and sports. I believe in making the overall learning experience meaningful to help you understand better. WHAT I DO NOT OFFER: Please be mindful that I DO NOT teach/offer the following: under age 16; beginner/elementary/pre-intermediate levels; academic English; workplace/business English; test preparation; Cambly materials/lessons*; reading articles; writing/editing (as Cambly is a speaking platform); basic daily conversation; accent coaching; and grammar. I correct grammatical errors in conversation, but I do not offer formal grammatical instruction/rules. Other tutors with this expertise will be better able to help you in these areas. *Please note: I generally do NOT offer Cambly lessons due to potential technical issues which may disrupt the class. I prefer to focus on interesting discussions instead. Although the lesson on ‘Healthy Mind, Healthy Body’ has been highlighted, please note that I do not follow the lesson format strictly. Instead, I offer diverse health topics in a discussion format, with lots of health-related idioms! I kindly request the following reasonable requirements: 1. Please read the tutor's profile carefully before reserving, calling or contacting. This is to ensure that you do not risk a late cancellation penalty and to respect the tutor's time and requirements. Therefore, I may decline a class if the student has not read my information carefully. 2. Please do NOT ask tutors to (late) cancel classes, as the tutor will be unfairly penalised for the student’s error. 3. Please reserve only ONE initial class (30 minutes, maximum). Please do not reserve multiple classes (of any length) before we meet. I will decline first classes that are more than 30 minutes and multiple classes that are reserved. 4. Please confirm BEFORE our first class: (a) If your SPEAKING English level is at least intermediate level and, (b) If you are comfortable discussing some of the topics listed in my profile. You can obtain your speaking level from either a previous test or by asking one of your other tutors for their feedback. Please note: Tutors do not offer a 'test' in class. I may decline the class if I do not receive a response to BOTH questions, as they are acceptable requests. This is to be fair to other students who would like a class. 5. One student only per class, please. 6. Please do not call when driving/in a vehicle. 7. Whilst I respect individual student preferences and cultures, I prefer classes with the student camera on, please. 8. Please do not forget to respond to messages in a sensible time frame as a polite courtesy. Additionally: 9. Due to legal and professional reasons, unfortunately, I am not permitted to provide specific dyslexia/other learning difficulties support here. 10. I believe in respectful communication and boundaries, and kindly request the same of students. Therefore, please note: As a private person, I do not give permission to share or upload videos of my classes. No influencers/podcasters etc., please. If you would like to do this, I recommend messaging the tutor before the class to ask permission as a courtesy. Thank you :)
