Hello! I hope to become a tutor on Cambly because I know first hand how intimidating learning a new language is.I am an American living in France and I am currently learning French. I know this in itself will help me to empathize as a tutor! I found Cambly thru Tutorjob. I am at a point in my life where I can commit to 20+ hours a week and plan on doing this for years to come. I am a retired school counselor and I am TEFL certified as well. I think talking about day to day life is one of the best ways to learn a language, sharing experiences and interests. I look forward to tutoring on Cambly and I am excited about meeting people from all parts of the world interested in learning English.
I love to cook, travel, read, walk, practice yoga and spend time with family. I worked as a counselor in the US but my parents have a restaurant so I spent many years working in the family business as well! In September of 2022 my french husband and I retired to Bordeaux, France. Not sure if we will stay here forever, it is a huge change but a wonderful experience thus far.

My teaching style is relaxed and conversational but at the same time I want to teach correct grammer and usage. The frustration that comes with learning something new can at times be overwhelming so patience is important! Knowing when to ease off and refocus is key. As a counselor listening is an important skill but so is guiding and sharing and I look forward to using those skills as a tutor.
