Hello! My name is Karen and I am from New Jersey, located in the United States of America. I am a former mayor of a township, having served over ten years in that capacity. I have extensive experience in American government, specifically in state and municipal government. I worked on political campaigns for various elected officials. Additionally, I was an academic advisor and taught English at a community college in New Jersey for many years. I thoroughly enjoyed working with college students and helping them to matriculate and graduate from college. As an advisor, I assisted students in selecting courses to enroll in and made certain that they maintained academic success. As a college instructor, I taught English classes and instructed students in basic college English courses. I administered tests, assigned writing assignments, graded papers, and turned in academic grades every semester.
I enjoy teaching and tutoring students because I get satisfaction when students get an understanding of the material being presented. I have worked at the collegiate level and currently tutor elementary students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, walking, and spending time with my family. I also like attending festivals and music concerts with friends. Whenever I get the opportunity, I travel to destinations that I haven't had the pleasure of going to.

I utilize an engaging and interactive approach to teaching. I prefer for students to get involved once material is presented to ascertain if they are retaining information. Equally, I like to pause during various sections to make certain that everyone is on the same, if not a closely similar, level of understanding.
