Hello, English Language Learners! I'm Jeffrey, a certified TEFL Instructor from the United States. I offer 30-60 minute English lessons (I'm sorry, I don't do 15 minute lessons) for conversation, fluency, interview preparation and travel, to adults and children 14 and older, beginner to advanced/A1-C1. I've been teaching English online for over 3 years and have over 30,000 minutes of talk time on Cambly. My goal is to reduce your anxiety and fear when communicating in English, building confidence along the way. I've taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to high school immigrant students in the US public school system as a licensed ESL teacher, and I passed the U.S. ESL teacher licensure exam with highest possible score of 200. I also have two masters degrees from Columbia University in Social Work & Public Health. At Cambly I've tutored learners from more than 20 countries and talked for well over 22,000 minutes. In my Social Work career, I've helped clients who spoke little English to get basic needs met, like housing, food and work, enabling me to identify your strengths and resilience. Most importantly, I understand what you might be going through in learning English - I felt anxiety and pressure when I was required to learn Spanish for work in Latin America and the U.S. I'll show you the kindness, dignity and respect that I received when learning my second language. I'm a certified TEFL Instructor. I've taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to high school immigrant students in the US public school system as a licensed teacher. I passed my state's teaching exam for licensure in the U.S., and I've earned a TQUK Level 5 Certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). I offer 30-60 minute lessons (I'm sorry, I don't offer 15 minute lessons). Here are the methods and techniques I use to bring English to life for you: Student-centered lesson plans • Cambly Courses tailored to your language level • Content Based Instruction (CBI) using English lexis (vocabulary and grammar), audio, video and writing, with topics based on YOUR goals and interests • Intensive and extensive reading assignments to improve vocabulary and grammar • Audio and video samples, selected for your language level, to "listen for gist" in conversation • Online resources (podcasts, music, TV, comedy, online communities, wikis, videos, Ted Talks, Youglish) for motivation and contextual learning • Pairing English with anxiety-lowering activities like meditation and deep breathing • Strategies for thinking in English, instead of "translating in your head" • For intermediate/advanced students, every other week is a conversation only lesson to improve fluency
