私は結婚しており、成人した娘が一人と、いくつかのペットがいます。夫と私は40年間結婚しており、過去36年間はフロリダ州中部（ディズニーの近くですが、どのビーチからも遠い場所）に住んでいます。 趣味は写真撮影、旅行（例えばペルー、コスタリカ、メキシコ、イングランド、スコットランド、ウェールズ、イタリア、アイスランドなど）、ミステリー小説を読むこと、裁縫、石鹸作りです。 2022年には夫とフィンランドを訪れ、初心者ながらフィンランド語を実践し、たくさんの間違いをしました！でも、とても親切で忍耐強い人々がいる美しい国で素晴らしい経験をしました。 ここでたくさんの新しい友達を作り、皆さんの英語のお手伝いをすることを楽しみにしています！

*** I AM NOT TAKING NEW STUDENTS AT THIS TIME. *** Hi! I'm Gwen! I love teaching and I love languages. I know how hard it is to learn a new language, because I am learning two - Spanish and Finnish. I have been teaching English for 15 years. I am analytical and systematic in my teaching, but I also believe in having fun and I can be silly. I can't wait to meet you and figure out how to best help you improve your English!
I am married with one adult daughter and several pets. My husband and I have been married for 40 years and we have lived in central Florida (close to Disney, but not close to any beaches) for the last 36 years. My hobbies include photography, travel (for example: Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico, England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Iceland and more), reading mysteries, sewing and making soap. My husband and I went to Finland in 2022, where I practiced my beginner Finnish and made lots of mistakes! But it was a wonderful experience in a beautiful country full of very nice and patient people. I am looking forward to making a lot of new friends here, and helping you with your English!

I believe that the goal of language learning is to develop the ability to communicate. Communication is a two-way negotiation of meaning. So, it's not about speaking perfectly. Native speakers aren't perfect - they make lots of errors all the time! My classes are set up to help you communicate more effectively in English, to develop your confidence and to be fun! I am passionately committed to helping you succeed. Sometimes I am silly. I can laugh at myself. I don't know everything, but I will research anything you want to know and come back with better answers for you. I believe in providing (a) some didactic instruction (explaining language norms and rules with examples) and then (b) many opportunites (of increasing difficulty) for practice.
