私の名前はラッセル・ヘイゲンです。私は23年以上の英語教育経験を持っています。ここエクアドルでは、成長した二人の娘を育て、美しい環境を楽しんでいます。公立・私立の機関で、様々な専門家、子供、大人、学生に対して、話す、書く、読む、聞くスキルの開発を指導してきました。さらに、スペイン語、中国語、韓国語を母国語とする学生に対して、全レベルで個人レッスンやグループ英語コースを提供してきました。3年以上にわたり、4歳から15歳までの子供たちにオンラインでマンツーマンのESLクラスの教育を受け、教えています。加えて、地元の教師や学生をTOEFL試験の準備に向けて指導してきました。第二言語としてスペイン語を話す私は、EFL/ESL学生が克服する必要がある課題や困難を理解しています。 生徒がコミュニケーションスキルを向上させるために、私は発音と文法の必要な訂正を行います。同時に、生徒の参加を促し、相互作用を高めるために、教師の話す時間を最小限に抑えるよう努めています。私は、生徒の学習スタイルに適応し、柔軟に対応する意欲があり、同時に文法構造、新しい表現・語彙、フォニックスを根気強く説明します。
私は、生徒たちが教科書の英語から脱却し、教室の外で英語を真に使いこなす能力を身につけることに興奮します。私は、生徒たちが大学の勉強をさらに進め、職場で市場価値のある人材になるよう、オンラインフォーラムで自分の能力と経験を活用しています。 教える際には、絵を描くことが好きで、特に漫画やデザインをするのが得意なので、簡単にイメージを使って概念を教え、理解を深めることができます。また、独学で写真を学んだフォトグラファーでもあり、得意分野は花や自然の景観です。エクアドルの美しい田園地帯で、私たちが住む森をハイキングしたり、二人の娘と一緒に自転車に乗ることも大好きです。私と生徒たちとの共通点の一つは、世界中から集めた宝石や魅力的な岩石を収集することへの興味です。

My name is Russell Hagen. I have over 23 years of experience in teaching English. Here in Ecuador, I have raised my two grown daughters and enjoy the beautiful environment. In both public and private institutions, I have instructed a variety of professionals, children, adults, and students to develop speaking, writing, reading and listening skills. Furthermore, I have given personalized and group English courses to first language Spanish, Chinese and Korean students at all levels. For over 3 years I have received training and been teaching one on one online ESL classes to children from ages 4 to 15. In addition, I have prepared local teachers and students for TOEFL exam preparation. As a second language Spanish speaker, I can understand the challenges and difficulties an EFL/ESL student needs to overcome. To help students advance in communication skills I give needed correction in pronunciation and grammar. At the same time I make a concerted effort to keep my teacher talking-time at a minimum so as to motivate students and keep their interaction high. I am willing to be adaptable and flexible with a student’s style of learning and at the same time patiently explain to them grammar structure, new expressions/vocabulary and phonics.
I am excited at helping students gain true ownership of English, break away from textbook English and especially use it outside of a classroom setting. I use my abilities and experience in an online forum so that students will further their university studies and become marketable in the workplace. In my teaching I can easily use images to teach concepts and to impress understand because I love drawing, especially cartoons and designing. I am also a self-taught photographer and my specialty is flowers and natural scenic wonders. I also love hiking in the woods and biking with my two daughters in the beautiful countryside of Ecuador where we live. Something I often have in common with my students is my interest in collecting gemstones and fascinating rocks from around the world.

My focus in teaching English has always been in helping students develop real communication, listening skills and use of reading strategies. I accomplish this with children by using puppets, TPR, and instructive props related to the topic. I am really excited to see a student use proper sentence structure and fluency by conversing about daily activities, employing role-play and dialogs, scaffolding, and especially visuals such as images and drawing together since I am also a cartoon artist. My success in making friends with students, limiting my teacher talking time, and having a fun experience together convinces me that I can help you or your child to master and gain true ownership of English by way of an online course.
