Hi! My name is Pernethyia (Per-nee-thee-uh), and I have two children, a dog, and a cat. Some of my hobbies are reading, working in my garden, and making updates to my website and social media platforms for my garden business. My other jobs include tutoring students on reading and grammar, landscaping, and gardening maintenance - I enjoy creating vegetable gardens on balconies and in backyards. I also enjoy dancing, cooking, reading, and discussing financial wealth, self-care and self-improvement. Cambly has introduced me to many adult English learners, and I enjoy learning about your background and interests. In class, we can have conversations about many things and our conversations will be adjusted to meet your skill level. If you are a beginner, we will focus on basic English-speaking skills, and I can correct you as much as you would like. If you are familiar with English, we will talk about intermediate topics and focus on areas that you would like to work on (sentence structure or grammar). We can also focus on lesson topics, such as increasing English vocabulary or phrases specific to work or hobbies, practice travel vocabulary, or career focused conversations. We can talk about topics that I mentioned above, including personal interests such as gardening, reading, studying new languages, traveling, cooking, dancing, raising children, divorce, self-improvement and more. Hi! My name is Pernethyia, and I begin each day grounded in faith, reflection, and intentional living. My mornings typically include receiving a Word from God, teaching online classes, prayer, and exercise. I believe these practices help me create a calm, focused, and encouraging learning environment—for my students and for myself. I enjoy meaningful conversations and learning alongside my students. Some of my interests include dancing, singing, cooking, reading, and discussing topics such as entrepreneurship, wealth-building, and social trends. Professionally, I am a family support consultant. I enjoy helping individuals and families build financial sustainability, set up effective education systems for their children, and navigate transitions toward independence—especially following separation or divorce. I love teaching in many capacities, but I am equally passionate about learning and personal growth. Outside of teaching, I enjoy gardening and growing my own food, including cabbage, potatoes, herbs, and several varieties of roses. Looking ahead to 2026, I am preparing to travel internationally with my family. I am especially excited about the possibility of meeting some of my Cambly students during my travels. I strive to create a welcoming, engaging, and respectful learning environment for adult learners. I motivate and encourage students through positive verbal feedback such as “Great job” and supportive interaction when appropriate. My teaching style focuses on natural conversation, while gently supporting sentence structure, grammar correction, and spelling clarification to help students communicate more clearly and confidently.
