I am an English tutor, and have spent 7 years teaching English as a second language including almost 5 years here on Cambly, plus 14 years teaching Business English. ----------------- I am also a trainer for more than 5,400 administrative staff worldwide; the author / creator of 48 books and editor of a further 27 for other authors; the former editor of a magazine for 9 years; a psychotherapist / counsellor and life coach; plus I'm a singer and have previously sung with two bands in in England. As you can see, I like multi-tasking! ----------------- In 2020 I moved from England to live permanently in Spain where I am learning Spanish - which really helps me to understand the difficulties and complexities of learning another language. I'm also learning about Spanish culture and traditions. ----------------- Everything I have done - my work and life experiences - contributes towards my teaching here on Cambly.

I am a Facilitator and can help you to find your way forward in your learning, sometimes using humour to demonstrate a point. We will hopefully both enjoy the experience along the way. We can also learn a lot from each other, sharing information about our lives, our cultures, our expectations in life, and our experiences. Tell me about your world - and I will share mine. ----------------------------- Please ask me when you don't understand what I'm saying. When I speak I use idioms and phrasal verbs and I do expect you to have questions - I welcome them, to help you to understand! ----------------------------- HOW I WILL WORK WITH YOU: Throughout your sessions with me, I will be helping you in improving your conversational skills, increasing your vocabulary and use of English phrases, correcting your pronunciation, and building your overall understanding of the English language. In addition I will be using my book-writing and magazine editing skills to help polish your writing. At times I will share with you about where, how and why certain words and phrases originated. I have been told by many students here that I am a great motivator and encourager. I like to include humour and anecdotal stories in our sessions so that you enjoy the process of learning and engage with it more fully - we can do this through general chat, directly focussed discussions, using any of the formal lessons on Cambly, and we can look at news articles and other resources from around the world. ----------------------------------------- MY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: I'm a qualified teacher and before the pandemic I spent ten years travelling around the world delivering business administration training programmes for administrative staff in 28 countries. I started tutoring English in 2018 and have been working on Cambly since July 2021. I recently moved from the UK to Spain where I'm learning Spanish, so I know what it's like to try to speak and think in another language, and can appreciate the complexities of learning a new language at any age, particularly later in life. I can also offer my experiences of moving to & living in the UK, Ireland and Spain to advise you on preparing to move to another country if you are going to study or work abroad. ----------------------------------------- I'm a kind and patient tutor and will work with you and encourage you at your own pace. I know that learning has the capacity to be boring so I do my best to counteract this - and I try to inject some fun where appropriate, in order to make the lessons more interesting. I'm also scholarly and knowledgeable and will share with you as much as you want to know about the English language - I have a huge love for words.
