I love animals, nature, and conservation. I hold a degree in psychology and further specialised in animal behavior. For over 15 years, I taught animal behavior and welfare, followed by 7 years dedicated to humane education. My primary occupation is writing. I write about a wide variety of subjects including conservation and wildlife. I’m currently working on my first novel and exploring the world of comedy writing. Having lived in several countries, I’m fascinated by diverse cultures, especially their cuisines. I teach intermediate and advanced English. I am very patient and enjoy helping students to find their voice. I focus on increasing vocabulary, improving on pronunciation. Helping students to express themselves confidently is my goal. I read with my students, as this helps to develop a high level of fluency in a very natural way. It allows you to learn through listening, speaking, and reading. This helps you to retain what you learn. Reading also allows a deep dive into advanced vocabulary and its cultural references. This enables students to use context to determine what words and phrases mean and how they are used. If you enjoy phrases and idioms, you will really enjoy working with me as I try to cover a new phrase in every class through a listening exercise and discussion. A class with me normally has this format: 1. 5-10 minutes of conversation. This allows me to assess your progress and to discuss any specific needs you may have. It also helps to relax you. 2. Listening exercise. I will select a vocabulary word, phrase, phrasal verb, or idiom at your level. You will listen to a short presentation, we will discuss what you have heard to evaluate your comprehension and then you will be asked to use the phrase or word correctly. 3. Collaborative reading. We will choose suitable and interesting reading material together. We will read together, focusing on your listening and comprehension. We will explore new vocabulary and then we will work on your reading and pronunciation skills. I normally have a very full schedule of wonderful, dedicated regular students and I rarely open the schedule up to non regulars. So, if you would like to make a reservation, please message me.
