I believe that when learning english as a second language immersion and enjoyment is key. Most of my lessons, especially for young learners, will involve hands on activities and assignments. I find that students retain and understand lessons best when there are able to participate, contribute, and do it themselves. Visuals and movement is also important for second language learners. If the student doesn't understand, then it's the teachers role to guide them to understanding, and often that involves exaggerated visuals to grasp meaning.
