Hello!
I'm excited to teach on Cambly because I enjoy meeting new people and sharing my knowledge of the English language. I have a bachelor's degree in history with an English minor and a teaching certificate in both subjects for grades 7-12. I am easy to talk with, and I love learning about other cultures. I have been teaching for over twenty years, and I believe the most important quality in a teacher is having good listening skills to help students meet their goals.
I enjoy doing many activities. Traveling is my favorite thing to do when I can. I love visiting state parks around the country to camp and hike. I've been to many countries around the world. When I was a child my family lived in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia because my father taught engineering at the university there. I've traveled to Ireland, all over Europe, Mexico, Canada and Venezuela. I also am a tournament Scrabble player and have played in tournaments in many U.S. cities. I love playing the game, learning new words and especially meeting new people. Teaching on Cambly is my latest adventure, and I hope to meet you too!

Teaching Style
My teaching style is flexible based on the needs of the individual student. I assess the student's language ability to adjust the lesson to their skill level. I speak words and phrases clearly with a standard American accent. It is important to build rapport at the beginning so the student feels comfortable trying out new words and phrases. I also give helpful feedback about the student's pronunciation of words. I make time for them to ask questions about word meanings so they feel confident that they are using words correctly in the conversation. It is also fun to discuss common English sayings that can't be directly translated into other languages like "break the ice" which means "to get the conversation going." So let's break the ice and get started on your English learning adventure!
